Contacted David & his team having seen a lawn sign around town advertising Christmas lighting. I have to say they did an amazing job! This is the second year we are using them & the lights look fantastic! David is excellent to work with, extremely personable & incredibly fair with his pricing! As an Architect and homeowner of a circa-1930’s Tudor house, I wanted to hire an architectural landscape lighting firm to replace my 25-yr. old high voltage pathway lights with a top-of-the-line low-voltage lighting system that would be sized for possible future expansion. I solicited and met with 4 different vendors/installers who are either licensed NJ Electrical Contractors and/or are licensed NJ Home Improvement Contractors, all who only do landscape lighting and understand that in NJ these systems must abide by the low-voltage regulations as governed by the NJ Electrical Code (NEC). I am a very particular, precise, demanding, and detail-oriented professional. I am also a very hands-on homeowner who wanted to match as closely as possible the finish of the new pathway lights to the existing original patinated copper wall sconces and pedestal light fixtures on the house. For this project, I chose David Kraus, Owner and leader of UNIQUE OUTDOOR LIGHTING. While David is not a licensed Electrician, he partners with a NJ licensed Master Electrician Oscar Paniagua / AROS Electric. Our project was implemented in two phases, paid for separately: First, AROS Electric came to our house to inspect and diagnose the existing complex electrical wiring conditions, making corrections to previous Electricians improper work, installing a new whole home surge suppressor at the main elec. panel board and cleaning up and preparing our electrical system for the subsequent installation of the new low-voltage transformer. The second phase was performed in a half-day, by David and his team. They installed a new 300W low-voltage transformer and astrological timer inside our garage, removed and disposed of the existing high-voltage pathway lights, dug new deep holes for the new light fixtures and their large anchoring support stakes, also dug the required 6” deep trench line for burying the new 12/2 low-voltage cable and made all of the waterproof electrical wire connections. Once the system was tested to confirm it was working correctly, they then filled up all holes and wire trenches and then tested the system once again to ensure proper operation and finally cleaned up the surrounding step walkway once they finished. The total cost of this work was about the same as the quotes I received from the other lighting firms. I selected David / UNIQUE OUTDOOR LIGHTING because he has the necessary architectural lighting experience. I was very pleased with David’s pleasurable attitude and enthusiastic interest in this project, his immediate responsiveness to my many questions during the planning and implementation stages and ultimately the high-quality work performance that he and his team accomplished. But most of all, I really appreciated that he was agreeable to working with me in a very professional and respectful collaborative manner, where we could discuss the pros and cons on different wiring plan layouts, light fixtures manufacturers, and installation methods. If you are as particular about how you like things done in and around your house and property as I am, then I highly recommend that you contact, meet with and get a proposal for your architectural landscape lighting project from David Kraus / UNIQUE OUTDOOR LIGHTING.
