What is integrated audio and lighting zones?

Integrated Audio and Lighting Zones is one of the audio & video installs services we install across New Jersey. Integration puts outdoor audio and lighting on shared zones and one control surface, so an area can be brought up or shut down as a single space rather than as two separate systems.

How do we install it?

Audio and lighting zones are drawn to the same boundaries, so a zone turns on the light and the sound for one physical area together.

Both systems are wired back to a shared location during installation, which avoids a second trench across a finished property later.

A single control surface is set up with manual fallback, so the space still works when a network or an app does not.

Shut-down schedules are shared across both systems, which is what stops audio running in an area whose lighting has already gone off.

Data and low-voltage runs share a common trench but stay in separate conduits, since a common conduit couples audio interference onto the lighting bus.

Controllers are chosen with published local protocols, because a proprietary cloud-only system leaves the property stranded if the vendor discontinues the product line.

The primary controller is sited in a conditioned indoor space rather than in an outdoor equipment cabinet, because temperature swings shorten controller life by more than the installation saves.

Scenes are stored on the local controller and exported to a backup file at commissioning, so a reset controller can be restored without recreating every scene from memory.

What does a bad install look like?

Installing the two systems in separate phases with separate controls. The zones never line up, and running the space means opening two apps every evening.

A control app updated to a version that drops backward compatibility with the site hardware. The house wakes to no automation, and the fix requires new hardware rather than a rollback.

Scenes named by the installer with codes only they understand. When the installer stops answering the phone, no one else can tell which scene turns on which set of zones.
