What is parking-lot and perimeter lighting?

Parking-Lot and Perimeter Lighting is one of the commercial & architectural lighting services we install across New Jersey. Parking and perimeter lighting covers the areas where people move between a vehicle and a building, aiming for even coverage across the surface rather than bright pools with dark gaps.

How do we install it?

Coverage is judged on the ratio between the brightest and darkest points, not on the output of any individual pole.

Pole height and spacing are set together, since raising output without adjusting spacing produces exactly the hot spots it was meant to remove.

Fixtures are specified with cutoff optics so light lands on the lot rather than crossing the property line into neighboring parcels.

Building entrances are lit above the level of the adjacent lot, so a person leaving a vehicle can see the door as the brightest thing ahead.

Poles are sited on lot lines and traffic aisles rather than in parking rows, so a fixture removal for a hit pole does not close active spaces during repair.

Optics are chosen by the mounting height of the pole, because a given distribution at fifteen feet lights a different footprint than the same distribution at twenty-five feet.

Feeds to lot poles are pulled through inspectable pull boxes, since a fault on a direct-buried run means excavation across an active driving surface.

Photocells and contactors are grouped in one accessible enclosure per property, so a lot-wide dark event is diagnosed at one location rather than at every pole.

What does a bad install look like?

A few very bright poles instead of more moderate ones. The lit areas glare, the gaps between them read as fully dark, and coverage is worse than with lower output.

House-side shielding installed backward on perimeter fixtures. Light spills straight onto the neighboring parcel, and the lot side that most needed coverage sits dim.

A single failed pole in a long uniform row. The dark gap between two lit poles reads as fully unlit to a driver, and cars avoid the whole run of spaces beside it.
