What is roofline, gable, and column lighting?

Roofline, Gable, and Column Lighting is one of the holiday & event lighting services we install across New Jersey. Roofline lighting follows the architectural edges of a building, running along gutters, gables, and columns so the shape of the house is what reads from the street after dark.

How do we install it?

Clips are matched to what they grip, with gutter clips on gutter and shingle clips under the course, so nothing is stapled into the roof.

Runs follow one continuous architectural line at a time, because a strand that jumps between roof planes reads as a sag from the street.

Columns are wrapped at a constant pitch, since a wrap that tightens or loosens up the shaft is the first thing the eye catches.

Power is dropped at planned points along the elevation so no run carries more load than its gauge allows over its full length.

Lead spacing on a strand is chosen against the actual gutter length, so the run terminates at a corner rather than mid-line on a straight section.

Bulbs face outward toward the street rather than downward into the gutter, because a bulb pointing into the trough reads as absent from anywhere off the roof.

Male ends of strands are placed uphill of joints, so meltwater running along the eaves does not drain into a connector overnight.

Every strand is powered on before the crew leaves the roof, since a bad section found from the ground the next day is a second ladder visit at rate.

What does a bad install look like?

Strands stapled directly through the shingles. It voids roofing warranties, opens the surface to water, and leaves holes that outlast the season by a long way.

Clips clamped over the ridge of an ice dam. The strand pulls loose in the first freeze cycle, and part of the roofline hangs into the gutter until spring.

Column wraps done bottom to top on one column and top to bottom on the next. The pitch reverses at the porch, and the pair reads as two separate installs.
