What is façade and architectural accent lighting?

Façade and Architectural Accent Lighting is one of the landscape lighting services we install across New Jersey. Façade lighting washes or grazes the front of a house so its materials and detail read after dark, treating the elevation as the subject rather than as a backdrop for the yard.

How do we install it?

Grazing sets the fixture close to the wall and aims steeply up, which rakes across stone or brick and makes its texture read as relief.

Washing sets the fixture further out and aims wider, which lays an even sheet of light across flat siding without picking out every seam.

Columns, gables and dormers are lit individually so the elevation keeps its shape, rather than being flooded into one bright rectangle.

Warm color temperature is held consistent across the whole elevation, because mixing cool and warm sources on one wall reads as a mistake.

Aim is checked from the road at night, since a spill pattern that reads clean from the driveway can throw glare into a neighbor's window.

Chimneys and dormers each get a dedicated source, because a fixture reaching across the elevation lands most of its beam on the roof plane instead.

Well lights buried at the foundation suit stone piers, and surface bullets suit wood siding that would trap moisture behind a flush housing.

Runs are dropped into the bed at planned points along the wall, so the transformer never carries more length than its taps can hold at nominal voltage.

What does a bad install look like?

One high-output floodlight aimed at the middle of the house. It flattens every detail, blows out the siding nearest the fixture, and leaves the roofline dark.

Fixtures set right at the foundation aimed at the eaves. The drip line saturates the housings within a season, and the shingles carry a bright halo the roof does not need.

Uneven grazing angles across one wall. The stone reads as textured on the left and flat on the right, and the elevation looks like two houses joined at a seam.
